Eike Batista has this month moved to the Top 10 richest men in the world on the forbes list. Worth over $27bn the entrepreneur who is heavily involved in the energy, shipping and commodities sector jumped an astonishing 59 places from 2009 (he was 67th in 2009).

Eike’s financial growth has been nothing short of staggering as he increased his worth from $8.5bn in 2009 to over $27.5 in 2010, a net gain of $19.5bn in 12 months. Much of Eike’s success has been down to the phenomenal growth of the Brazilian economy as well as some very smart business moves and high profile IPO’s.
Flamboyant and focused Eike also led the financing of Rio’s successful 2016 Olympic bid and is achieving cult status within his native Brazil.
